Alas Strait - A Hidden Jewel

The Tanjung Ringgit peninsula in Southeast Lombok is one of Indonesia’s best kept secrets not far from Lombok International Airport. It is home to untouched beaches, including one of the world’s few pink beaches, pristine coral reefs, dramatic limestone cliffs and the last protected forest in south Lombok. All with Mt. Rinjani as a stunning backdrop., The Tanjung Ringgit Ecoegion is 340+ ha where only 10% of the land will be developed, leaving 90% as a haven for wildlife.

On the other side of the Alas Strait, only 40 minutes with a speedboat from Tanjung Ringgit and beside the new Kiantar Airport, you find the Eight Islands EcoRegion, an untouched archipelago in Northwest Sumbawa, with pristine islands sitting on a forest of coral, surrounded by crystal clear water perfect for water sports such as diving, snorkelling, kayaking and stand-up paddling.

The 340+ ha Tanjung Ringgit EcoRegion is the last green haven on Lombok’s south coast just 57 km from Lombok International Airport. Eco-, medical and marine tourism is being combined with environmental protection and the reintroduction of rare species to create a unique sustainable destination. The first phase of the project includes the development of 100 eco-villas, organic restaurants, glamping, dive centre, a butterfly valley and a parrot sanctuary.

The Eight Islands Ecoregion is located at the top western corner of the Alas Strait beside the Poto Tano harbour and only 15 km from Kiantar Airport (currently under construction). The Eight islands are the largest group of uninhabited paradise islands close to Bali and are on the popular and iconic sailing route from Bali to Komodo Island. The islands themselves are sitting on a forest of coral with excellent diving and a wide diversity of marine life.
